VISION STATEMENT

ideal (ai’diəl) adj. of or relating to a highly desirable and possible state of affairs.
possible (posib’l) adj. 1. capable of existing, taking place, or proving true without contravention of any natural law. 2. capable of being achieved.
 The Collins Concise Dictionary.

If you sum up these 2 definitions you might get something like this – “a highly desirable state of affairs that is capable of being achieved”.
And that is pretty much the aim of IWF in a nutshell. The vision and purpose of IWF could also be summed up like this:

For as long as we can see that there remains a single thing that can be done to improve the well being of our world, our purpose will simply be to help in any way we can to see to it that it gets done.

Now, surely we can all agree that for some time to come at least there are likely to remain a great many things that can be done. And as those needs are bound more often than not to outweigh our resources, our policy will be to direct our available energies at any given time toward whatever we consider to have the highest and most pressing priority.

Basically, the work of the Ideal World Foundation is twofold. One, we are imagineers. “We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams.” (Willie Wonka) This is really the fun part, where we paint a picture, our collective vision of what our world could, would or should be, given the chance. This vision, then, is our Credo.

Two, we use that Credo as our compass, the star by which we set our course. It doesn’t matter how far away it seems, or how fanciful or unrealistic or unachievable it may appear to be. All we are concerned with is what can be done today to help move the world in that general direction. We must remember, the greatest journey is but a collection of single small steps.

Throughout the ages a fundamental hope and dream of humanity has centered around the concept of a “heaven”, or some ideal place or state of being that we all may ultimately attain. A commonly held belief, however, is that such is only to be found in the “next life” (if at all), but certainly not here and now in this world.

Perhaps heaven on earth is not possible. Still, what is preventing us from painting an ideal picture in our minds, then doing whatever we can to make it a reality? Why not set our sites on the highest ideal conceivable, aim ourselves in that direction and see how close we can come to it? Who knows, we may just surprise the “hell” out of ourselves.

This is the vision, work and purpose of The Ideal World Foundation.
