I am putting my toe in the water to say hello to the two other participants in this forum, Kenny and Jesterdood. I have assumed that you are eager to engage other people in this forum, and have sent the link to this site to a few friends that I think might be interested in the topics I suspect will be raised here.
At this point I am not sure what you hope to achieve here, and am not able to find a IWFI goal or purpose or outline or whatever. This may be due to my ineptitude, and the purpose is expressed clearly on this site for all to see. Where is it? What do we expect of this forum? Ideal World Foundation is quite a big statement in name alone, but what does it mean?
Hey John,
Wel - diddelee -elcome!

Thanks for christening the Boardroom! Although, if you don't mind I'll move this thread to the General Discussion forum, as I'd like to designate the Boardroom as the table where we discuss and vote on IWF decisions and Credo, etc.. This, however, along with the entire organization, is open for discussion, so please feel free to air any thoughts you may have on it.
To answer your questions;
"At this point I am not sure what you hope to achieve here, and am not able to find a IWFI goal or purpose or outline or whatever. These are very good questions, and I'm hoping this will be much clearer to you and others once the website starts taking shape. (I just slapped up a very primitive web page on the 11th of October, and the bb on the 14th.) Mike and I have been knocking IWF back and forth the last couple years, and I have been toying with it for about 15 years. So alot of thought has gone into it. I need to get some things published to the site, including a draft of the IWF Charter, Mission and/or Vision Statements, Flow Chart, and Proposed Credo.
Once you have a gander at these items I think you'll have some answers to the above questions. But let me say this, ultimately what it means and what we're about is what we collectively decide upon. One thing we want to avoid at all costs is "founders syndrome" which, as I understand it, is common to organizations such as this, where the personality of the organization is essentially a reflection of it's founder. I read about it, I'll see if I can find a link to the article.
Anyway, I'd like to see IWF become as much a collective vision as is humanly possible. So to that extent, the answers to your questions are going be ultimately decided upon by the group.
What Mike and I have agreed upon so far is that we won't make any official decisions until we have a substantial membership in place. Until that time, all our discussions will be aimed at putting a framework in place that can be discussed and voted on by IWF members once we have a good number. We have yet to determine what that number should be. 25? 50? 100? That's something that those of us who gradually gravitate to this community can decide upon in the coming months.
We've discussed many of the finer points of how this all could work at length. I'll be aiming to publish an archive of our past correspondence to the site in due course as a reference. I have alot of work yet to do just to get the site in order. So we're very much in our infancy right now.
Bottom line is, I am excited by this project and I have high hopes for it. I'm optimistic that it will prove to be a worthwhile endeavor, but of course only time will tell. But I have faith in what the focussed energy of a group of creative minds can achieve. So welcome aboard my good John. Hope you stick around and add your most excellent mind to the mix!

Fabulous. I look forward to all future developments. And hello to Mike. I look forward to getting to know you. I am sure we will encounter each other in the current affairs forum, as this is something that interests me greatly (despite elections in recent years causing me great bafflement and anxiety).
Hello there! Newbie here too.. I would like to share my ideas to each and everyone in this forum thats why I joined this forum..
Hi seyboo and welcome! I must apologize for the quiet forum at the moment. I've been away for a year and a half working on a ship with limited internet access and things have gotten quiet around here. I plan to work on changing that in the near future. I'll add you to our newsletter mailing list and when things get moving again I'll be sending out a newsletter to all members.
Thanks again for taking an interest, hope to get to know you in the coming months.
Cheers,
Kenny
